The GEOID gives the census tract to which the information is tied.  Each census tract is composed of 11 digits. 

1-2nd position:  First two digits is the State FIPS code:  01 = Alabama

3-5th position:  Three digits is the County identifier  (the first 5 digits is the County FIPS code)

6-11th position:  Six digits identifies the census tract.

BY COMPOSITE IDENTITATE

The Composite Identitate segmentation is composed of 64 neighborhood cluster segments.  Each community type has twelve segments except Aspiring and Country communities which have eight each.

The CMPID is the Composite Identitate cluster code that has 6 digits:

1st position:  I = Composite Identitate segmentation
2nd position:  Identifies the Community type (A=Aspiring; C=Country; M=Mainstay; P=Upscale; R=Urban; and W=Working)
3rd position:  Social Group is indicated by groups A thru L
4-5th position:  Two digit number representing the cluster

So IAH04 = Identitate, Aspiring, H Group, 04 Cluster




TERM DEFINITIONS FOR LOCATION SELECTOR

Some of the terms used above are defined below.

Unreached

The percentage of the population who do not consider themselves to be an evangelical based on a national survey and correlated with several other datasets.  The following categories are included in the unreached definition:  religious but not evangelical (which means they attend an institutional version of religion that is not evangelical); spiritual but not evangelical (which means they are interested in spirituality and may be into alternative spiritualities like new age); and those that are not interested in religion or spirituality.

Top Mission Site

The Top Mission Sites identifies the top unreached locations within the chosen geographical area.  To arrive at this designation, a number of data sources have been used and cross-tabulated in order to make this determination.  These locations are chosen based on the following factors within the site location:

  • A weighting algorithm that includes the following variables:  number of households, percent of active evangelical presence, percent of unreached population, and percent of population that are religious but not evangelical.
  • Ring size based on the IICM Sitescape location type:  city (generally inner city or high density area - 1/2 mile ring; suburb - 1 1/2 mile ring; towns - 3 mile ring; and country - 7 mile ring.
  • Distance from other chosen locations based on the IICM Sitescape density location type: city - 1-2 miles; suburb - 3-4 miles; town - 6-8 miles; and country - 14-16 miles.

A Mission Point report for each region provides detailed informalocationselector3.jpgtion about each Mission Site location.  Each location is identified by census tract centroid,latitude & longitude, city,county, IICM Sitescape category and group, density and population patterns, number of households, and the number of households and percentage for:  active evangelicals, unreached status, religious but not evangelical, spiritual but not evangelical, and not evangelical and not interested in religion or spirituality.  A map of each location is also provided.  Additional information about community types and diversity and density indexes are included.
